Indulge in a special winter high tea treat at Palazzo.

I had the opportunity of indulging in the most scrumptious treats, from

Savory to sweet, with Dilmah tea to warm up on the chilliest of days of winter.

The delicious and indulgent experience of high tea at the luxurious Palazzo hotel ( at Montecasino is renowned as the most special of occasions.

Now with colder weather setting in, Head Pastry Chef Marco Gaspar has taken the offering to new heights with a winter menu featuring a delectable range of seasonal sweet and savoury treats and freshly infused teas and coffee.

The mouth-watering sweet menu includes Vanilla panna cotta with stone fruit compote; Lemon soft cake with lemon curd and Italian meringue; Apple strawberry crumble tart; Raspberry lime custard mini éclair; Dark chocolate mousse dome with crunchy nuggets; Baked vanilla cheesecake with assorted berries; Macarons; and Scones served with chantilly cream, strawberry jam and cheese. The savoury selection includes dainty and tasty assorted sandwiches; Grilled halloumi and homemade sweet chilli on Italian bread; Smoked salmon and ricotta cheese quiche; Spinach and feta quiche; and Moroccan vegetable pie.

Chef Gaspar says, “We pull out the stops to make sure that every high tea experience is world-class, both from a menu perspective and for the tranquil and elegant atmosphere that the Palazzo offers. We look forward to welcoming and pampering our guests through the chilly winter days when a feast of treats make every high tea occasion a celebration.”

Winter High Teas ( at the Palazzo are available from 1 June to 31 August, daily from 2pm to 5pm, at R260 per person. Booking is essential on 011 510 3000.
