I got to catch up with Sara Essop, the famous travel blogger And writer for many popular publications, this was an absolute pleasure to chat to her, she’s certainly a down to earth lady, who has a passion for traveling, family and luxury!

All images on this post where taken on Sara’s travels, simply amazing!

Here’s some more info on Sara:

1. Please tell me a bit about yourself and your passion for blogging?

I am a travel writer and blogger. As you can guess, I am prone to catching the travel bug very often. Taking the road less travelled or hopping on a plane to somewhere, usually helps when this happens. I have been to 40 countries so far and am always eager to add more to the list.

A trip to India in my childhood with my family gave rise to my wanderlust. it was an amazing adventure for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Since then I have been travelling on and off for many years. As far as writing goes, I’ve always enjoyed that too. About 3 years ago I decided to combine my passion for writing with my passion for travelling and that’s how I began travel blogging.

I am married and have two children. My family adds the balance in my life.

2. What inspires you?

Travel inspires me more than anything. I love discovering and exploring new destinations and taking photos wherever I go. Seeing world famous places and off-the-beaten-track places in the flesh, experiencing new adventures, new cultures and new cuisine excites me and inspires me. I aim to inspire others to travel and explore.

3. The best place you have travelled to?

That’s a tough one, so I’m going to go with three places. Istanbul, Venice and Santorini were some of the most magical places I’ve been to.

In South Africa, I love going to game reserves, as being among nature and wildlife, de-stresses me the most.

4. The 3 things you can’t live without?

  • Smartphone
  • Internet
  • Camera

5. Your proudest blogging moment?

I can’t pinpoint one moment, but some of my best moments were when I was published in some prestigious publications and also, when I get lovely comments from my readers.

6. Tell us something about you we don’t know.

I have a postgraduate degree in commerce and I still do work in the field part-time.

7. Favourite restaurant?

My current favourites in South Africa are Simply Asia, and Lal Qila, a relatively new restaurant in Mayfair, specialising in North Indian cuisine. My favourite restaurant anywhere is Delhi Darbar in Mumbai, India.

8. Best parenting tip?

I just heard this parenting advice recently and love it.

Play with your kids for 7 years, discipline them for the next 7 years, befriend them thereafter.

9. Anything you would love to share with the readers?

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take – so don’t be afraid to take chances.
